Another record race in the seas of northern Portugal
It was on September 17, 2022 that the mythical XII Regata do Infante took place, with a record number of 57 boats present this year.
The course was as usual, starting at the Porto Atlântico Leixões Marina and ending at the Ribeira do Douro on the first leg. After a good lunch at the Douro Marina, the competitors set sail for the second leg of this regatta, which took in the Douro Marina and the Port of Leixões once again.
A huge thank you to all the participants in this regatta, who filled our hearts by forming the fantastic patch of Sail-boats on the River Douro.

A great Day 1 for the Women On Water Portugal sailors
The first day of the Women On Water Portugal 2022 regatta took place today in front of the Douro Marina, with 7 teams competing! Today, 12 of the 14 Qualifying Series scheduled for the championship took place. Tomorrow it will be decided who will go straight through to the semi-finals and who will have to make the play-offs. At the moment, “Miúdas” with Margarida Aguiar at the helm is in the lead, followed by “Cheers” with Teresa Borges Coutinho in second place and “Sweet&Salty” with Raquel Sousa at the rudder in third. It was a day of sailing with excellent wind conditions and a lot of current that made the crews’ tactical options difficult. There are more races tomorrow, with weather conditions expected to be similar to today’s.
Great presence of S!M at Lusíadas Saúde Porto Sailing
It’s not the first time that the S!M Association has taken part in the great sailing festival that is Lusíadas Saúde Porto Sailing, but this year they exceeded all expectations.
Between the usual participation and support on land with the sale of coffees and live music shows, this was the year that the S!M participants hoisted the sails of the inclusive boat Lusíadas ForALL and made the second phase of the XII Regata do Infante from start to finish, sailing from the Douro to the Port of Leixões in an afternoon full of music, happy atmosphere and love, with our Skipper who accompanies them weekly Gonçalo Costa Fonseca.
Watching the participants’ joy and sense of achievement was a unique sight.
