BBDouro Boat Services is a nautical services company based in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal. We offer a wide range of rigging services tailored to the specific needs of each customer.

We provide services at our facilities and in any marina in Portugal and Spain (subject to quote). At our facilities, we have the capacity to assemble and disassemble masts of boats up to 3.50m draft, using our travelift or a mobile crane.

Running rigging encompasses the ropes, blocks, and hardware used to control the sails and movable spars on a sailing vessel. They are systems that serve to:
- Control movable spars such as the boom (boom-jack)
- Shaping, fine-tuning or adjusting the sails (Cunningham)
- Hoist and lower sails
Running rigging can be composed of various types of parts and components, such as: halyards, sheets, fine-tune ropes or blocks.

Standing rigging encompasses all the components of a sailboat that support the mast and keep it in its vertical position, such as: stays, shrouds and chainplates. Unlike running rigging, which is used to control the sails and movable spars, standing rigging remains fixed in place to ensure mast’s stability and rigidity.

Rope splicing is the art of manipulating and sewing ropes in order to: create secure and efficient connections, repair damaged ropes or customize lengths, thicknesses and ropes ends.

What is it?
Rig Tune or mast configuration refers to the precise adjustment of the standing rigging systems to optimize the performance and safety of a sailboat. A well-tuned rig remains stable in any wind or sea condition, while also allowing for efficient sail trim and handling.
Mast configuration is based on its rake and bend as well as in the position of the spreaders and the tension of the shrouds.
