In addition to ensuring high-quality instruction, BBDouro’s primary objective as a nautical training school is to make sure that each of our students feels comfortable and independent when navigating.
Our school stands out for the frequency of courses and easy access to information and support materials:
- We offer comprehensive courses for Basic Skipper (Marinheiro), Local Skipper (Patrão Local), and Coastal Skipper (Patrão de Costa), covering all topics coherently.
- Our lessons are held in the evening, twice a week.
- We provide 3 practical lessons for each course attended.
- We have an e-learning platform with study content and exam preparation materials.
The Basic Skipper’s License allows you to handle vessels up to 12 meters in length with appropriate installed power as per its certification.
It is suitable for driving jet skis, water scooters, and small boats with no power limit.
This license allows only daytime navigation, up to 3 miles from the coast and 10 miles from a harbor.
Duration: 4 to 6 weeks
Schedule:
Theoretical Lessons – twice a week (days to be determined), from 8:30 PM to 11:30 PM
Practical Lessons – three Saturdays during the course (days and times to be determined)
Price: €350.00
Conditions:
- The price includes exam and license fees, insurance and VAT.
- Minimum age: 16 years
- For students under 18, the following limitations apply: navigation in boats up to 6 meters in length with a maximum power of 30 HP. The license limits are automatically lifted upon reaching 18 years of age.
- Practical lessons take place on Saturdays at BBDouro. A form is provided during the course for students to sign up for these lessons. Depending on the number of registered students, classes may also be held on Sundays.
- Final exams are in-person and conducted at BBDouro.
The Local Skipper License allows you to handle vessels without size or power limits. It enables both daytime and nighttime navigation, up to 6 miles from the coast and 25 miles from a harbor.
Duration: 8 weeks
Schedule:
Theoretical Lessons – twice a week (days to be determined), from 8:30 PM to 11:30 PM
Practical Lessons – three Saturdays during the course (days and times to be determined)
Price: €600.00
Conditions:
- The price includes exam and license fees, insurance and VAT.
- Minimum age: 18 years
- Practical lessons take place on Saturdays at BBDouro. A form is provided during the course for students to sign up for these lessons. Depending on the number of registered students, classes may also be held on Sundays.
- Purchase of a square and compass for classes is required.
- Final exams are in-person and conducted at BBDouro.
- It is not required to have a Basic Skipper’s License to enroll in this course.
The Coastal Skipper License allows you to handle vessels without size or power limits. It enables both daytime and nighttime navigation, up to 45 miles from the coast and without distance limits from a harbor.
Duration: 16 weeks
Schedule:
Aulas Teóricas – duas vezes por semana (em dias a definir), das 21h00 às 23h00
Practical Lessons – three Saturdays during the course (days and times to be determined)
Price: €750.00

- Minimum age: 18 years
- Practical lessons take place on Saturdays at BBDouro. A form is provided during the course for students to sign up for these lessons. Depending on the number of registered students, classes may also be held on Sundays.
- Purchase of a square and compass for classes is required.
- Final exams are in-person and conducted at BBDouro.
- To attend the Coastal Skipper course it is mandatory to have a Local Skipper License (no previous proven experience is required).

BUBBLES
Cabin boat with a length of 6.5 meters and an outboard motor with 115 hp.
RIGID INFLATABLE BOAT
Hard hull boat with 5.35 meters and inflatable pontoons, powered by an outboard motor with 50 hp.
WHERE WILL YOU SAIL?
Our boating training sessions are held at Douro Marina and in the Estuary of Douro Natural Reserve.

Teaching and practicing sailing as no limits at BBDouro. Our disabled sailing program on the INCA Lusíadas ForALL boat is tailored to meet the individual needs and skill levels of each sailor.
ADULT ACADEMY
Lack of time and age are not obstacles to developing your love of sailing and the sea at BBDouro’s Adult Academy. With private and group lessons every weekend we dare you to come and try it.
POWER BOAT TRAINING
Do you have a boating license but lack the confidence to sail by yourself? This course is tailored specifically for you.
PRIVATE LESSONS
Sailing lessons tailored to each sailor’s schedule and availability, whether they are learning with a friend or on their own.
FOILING ACADEMY
The sailing academy for daring and for any sailor who wants to improve their foiling abilities. For those who dare to fly just above the water, we offer a variety of possibilities in private lessons or training camps.
SAILING TRIALS
During a two-hour cruise along the Douro River, you will experience the unique sensation of using just the wind to move forward and feel the adrenaline of the boat gliding on the water.
