Water that kills hunger and not the environment! Have you heard of it?
Together with Terra Incógnita, in 2020, we embraced the challenge of reducing plastic consumption in our activity. It was in this year that we adopted Earth Water and reduced our plastic consumption, which amounted to 5,000 bottles of water a year.
And on this side, do they still use plastic bottles?

WHAT IS IT?
Earth Water is a brand created by the Earth Group whose objectives are to guarantee an ecological alternative to conventional plastic bottles and to support the United Nations World Food Program.
In 2019, Earth Water became the first brand in Portugal to be marketed using Tetra Pak cardboard packaging.
Cardboard is a renewable natural resource that, if well managed, does not run out in nature, and Earth Water uses cardboard approved by the Forest Stewardship Council (a guarantee of responsible and sustainable management) in the production of its packaging in Portugal. This means that the life cycle of this bottle never ends if it is recycled in the yellow recycling bin.
In addition to the ecological component, Earth Group is committed to donating 100% of the profits generated from the sale of water bottles to the UN World Food Program, which fights hunger worldwide and prevents future situations of financial strain anywhere in the world. .
WHAT IS THE IMPACT OF THIS ACTION?
By adopting Earth Water as BBDouro’s official water, we prevent around 65 kg of plastic from ending up in the oceans and we contribute around 300 meals to the UN World Food Program.

The monthly Beach Clean-Up is a BBDouro project that aims to clean the beach at the Douro Estuary Nature Reserve.
SOLIDARY SAILING
Vela Solidária is a BBDouro ForALL social project dedicated to children and young people living in institutions or integrated into social integration projects.
SAILING WITHOUT BARRIERS
The “Sailing Without Barriers” project aims to provide access to sailing for all people with motor and/or cognitive disabilities, as well as their caregivers or family members.
MOVEMBER
Since 2013, BBDouro has joined this cause and has not only grown a moustache, but has also donated around 1300 dollars to the Movember Foundation to fight the diseases that affect thousands of men every year.
ECOWORKS
We made the decision to stop using non-sustainable detergents in 2020 and search for non-polluting, biodegradable alternatives.
