A BBDouro ForALL project
The “Sailing Without Barriers” project aims to provide access to sailing for all individuals with motor and/or cognitive disabilities, as well as their caregivers or family members.
Although sailing by individuals with reduced mobility or disabilities is not a new concept in our country, this project, developed since 2016, features the world’s first 100% inclusive catamaran, developed in Portugal.
The “Sailing Without Barriers” project is also a pioneer in Accessible Tourism in Portugal, being the first company in the North of the country with boat tours and conditions accessible to all. At BBDouro, we want to ensure that the experience of sailing on a sailboat is inclusive and accessible to all who visit our city.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
INCLUSIVE CATAMARAN LUSÍADAS FORALL
Developed in a partnership between BBDouro ForALL and Inclusive Sailing, the Inclusive Catamaran Lusíadas ForALL can carry up to four wheelchairs, a total of eight people, on its central platform and is 100% adapted to the needs of our activity.
It was designed to accommodate people in manual or electric wheelchairs, with a double hull design that gives it the stability needed to transport any type of passenger. Each hull also has a Centreboard, which acts as a stabilizer and helps control the boat’s inclination.
The adaptations made to all the boat’s systems allow anyone, regardless of their condition, and with the help of the crew if necessary, to maneuver and sail the boat.
GOALS
Our goal is to offer regular and ongoing activities throughout the year, tailored to the needs of the participants. We offer services adapted for those who may have temporary or permanent limitations in cognitive and psychosocial mobility. Sailing promotes concentration, the development of motor and psychological skills, and provides a sense of well-being as an outdoor sport.
Currently, this project is supported by Lusíadas Saúde.

CERCIGAIA
It aims to promote the autonomy and socialization of people with disabilities, enhancing individual well-being and facilitating their integration into various environments where any citizen moves.
ANDDI
The “Associação Nacional de Desporto para Desenvolvimento Intelectual” is a non-profit institution whose main activity is to promote and organize competitive sports activities for national athletes with intellectual disabilities, both in Portugal and abroad, with the fundamental goal of their full rehabilitation and integration into society.
SIM SOMOS CAPAZES
A social innovation project for young individuals with special talents, where they develop various entrepreneurial, cultural, and leisure projects, thereby unleashing their dreams and ambitions to show that they are capable.
APPDA NORTE
To promote the quality of life for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), across all age groups, and for their families.
CÂMARA MUNICIPAL VILA NOVA DE GAIA
Ensures the participation in regular Sailing Without Barriers trips for the ACAPO and SIM Somos Capazes associations.
APPACDM GAIA
A non-profit association that promotes the social integration of citizens with intellectual disabilities in the municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia.

The Seabin Project is a global initiative aimed at cleaning up our oceans by installing cleaning devices in marinas.
BEACH CLEAN-UP
The monthly Beach Clean-Up is a BBDouro project that aims to clean the beach at the Douro Estuary Nature Reserve.
SOLIDARY SAILING
Vela Solidária is a BBDouro ForALL social project dedicated to children and young people living in institutions or integrated into social integration projects.
ECOWORKS
We made the decision to stop using non-sustainable detergents in 2020 and search for non-polluting, biodegradable alternatives.
MOVEMBER
Since 2013, BBDouro has joined this cause and has not only grown a moustache, but has also donated around 1300 dollars to the Movember Foundation to fight the diseases that affect thousands of men every year.
EARTH WATER
A brand of water packaged in Tetra Pak carton that supports the United Nations World Food Program.
