ALL ACCORDING TO PLAN!
The forecast made us shiver slightly at the BBDouro team meeting at 08:00. We were prepared for rain, but we’d all prefer an uneventful day.
S. Pedro did not disappoint!
It was a dream day for the event’s two races. The sun shone through a few clouds in the September heat and the wind blew with a steady breeze.

WOMEN ON WATER PORTUGAL 2023 by NATIXIS
The briefing took place on time, the crews all took to the water at the scheduled time and there was even time for a short practice session before the first warning signal.
The teams of Teresa Borges Coutinho, Sara Carmo, Margarida Aguiar and Patrícia Bastos kicked off the first day of racing and the qualifying round. The races went on, one after the other, without any unforeseen events or breakdowns. Everything went so smoothly that we finished the qualifying round at 17:30!
Team Cocomelon (Mariana Lobato) and SaltyBow (Sara Carmo) took the lead from the first race and kept up a close fight until the end of the standings. Rounding off the podium was the Girls on Fire! team (Margarida Aguiar), who came to the weekend fighting to defend last year’s title.
The 3rd and 7th place finishers were separated by just 7 points. It was a day full of action and heated fights on the water.
Tomorrow the play-offs, semi-final and final await us in this edition of Women on Wanter Portugal 2023 by Natixis in Portugal.
We’ll keep track of today and follow all the action on our Instagram oron the WOW Facebook page, so join us!
XIII INFANTE REGATTA
We have reached the end of another successful edition of the Regata do Infante.
BBDouro and Lusíadas Saúde welcomed 45 boats competing for first place in their class. Good cheer was the word of the day during the various moments, on the water and on land, but the two races were challenging for all the participants, with the wind playing some tricks.
The first race started with a south-westerly breeze, which ended up completely rounding the Ribeira do Porto area. The afternoon race took place in the same south-southwesterly winds, giving our regular guests from Lusíadas Saúde a downwind race, much less radical than the usual upwind race in the north wind.
The winners of this spectacular event were:
- Pedro Fernandes’ Le Petit Prince in the ANR 1 class;
- Ojo Piojo by Manuel Lopes in the ANR 2 class;
- Rui Barros’ Yess in the ANR 3 class;
- Jazz by Bruno Albuquerque in the Sportsboats class;
- Cheers from Filipe Pedrosa in the Platu 25 class.
This edition once again saw the participation of SIM, Somos Capazes, who won the regatta in which they took part 🤩.
We say goodbye to the 13th Regata do Infante with a video of the best moments of this incredible day.
WE DO SAILING
Today wouldn’t have been possible without all the team behind the scenes, managing suppliers, setting up courses and planning this whole event. It was undoubtedly a busy 1st day of Lusíadas Saúde Porto Sailing, but with a huge team behind it!
