On October 26, BBDouro Nautical Experiences opened its doors to 24 sailing enthusiasts at the Adult Academy Open Day, an event dedicated to those who have always wanted to try sailing and take their first steps in the sport.
The experience began with a theoretical introduction on land, where participants learned the basics of sailing, preparing them for the adventure on the water ahead. With the support of our instructors, they had the opportunity to learn how to adjust the sails to the wind and tie knots like true sailors.
Equipped and ready for the adventure, the practical session brought the excitement everyone had been waiting for. The grey morning was accompanied by light rain and little wind, but that didn’t discourage the group, highlighting the adventurous spirit of each participant as they took part in the maneuvers of their boat and felt the thrill of sailing firsthand.

On a day of light winds and with rain looming, the participants in the Open Day of the Adult Academy had the opportunity to experience what it’s like to sail a boat. On the waters of the Douro River, and after a brief theoretical introduction, they spent another hour on the water experiencing the dynamics required to sail using only the wind’s power.
