The 29er 2025 World Championship, held in Porto, ended with great suspense – but no more races. Yesterday’s results remained unchanged after light winds kept the gold fleet on the water until 4pm, the deadline for the last start. Hope was kept to the limit, but with no more races to be sailed, the Danish-Norwegian duo of Nicklas Holt and Philip Forslund (NOR 16), coached by Portuguese João Prieto, were officially crowned World Champions.
To celebrate, the Norwegian crew immediately removed the “6” from their sail number to proudly display the “1” – the number they will be racing with if they remain in the 29er class. All the top 25 teams in the World Championship will also adopt new sail numbers, reflecting their final ranking.

Thank you Porto!
Over the course of a week, Porto’s Atlantic waterfront was transformed into a world-class sailing arena, with more than 200 teams from 26 countries competing. Organized by BBDouro Nautical Experiences and the International 29er Class, with the support of Porto, Vila Nova de Gaia and Matosinhos, the championship was more than a regatta – it was a celebration of talent, resilience and international camaraderie that will live long in the memory.
For the BBDouro team, the work continues, now with dismantling and all the post-championship logistics. During a well-deserved toast on the office balcony, overlooking what just a few hours earlier had been boat parks full of boats and young people, Diogo Barros (CEO) expressed what we all felt: we left naturally tired after an intense month, but with our hearts overflowing and with enormous pride in the work and organization of yet another successful championship.
We Do Sailing.
