With the sun reflecting on the waters of the Douro River and a gentle breeze blowing, health and sailing came together once again to kick off another edition of Lusíadas Saúde Porto Sailing 2025.
The start of the 15th Regata do Infante
As in previous years, the event began on Friday, September 12, at the historic Sport Club do Portowith the traditional meeting of skippers for the 15th Regata do Infante. After confirming entries and handing out HeyDoc and Lusíadas Saúde welcome bags, the regatta committee presented the official briefing, outlining with all the participants the rules, routes and social moments that mark this great gathering of sailing in Portugal.
More than 230 sailors in competition
This year’s edition featured 45 boats and more than 230 sailors, transforming the coastline of Porto and Matosinhos into a unique scene of color and movement.
The first start brought dozens of sailboats to the Douro, with a slow start due to the light wind and strong current. Given the conditions, the Race Committee decided to shorten the course and set the finish line at the entrance to the Douro River bar, creating a challenging and exciting finish.
The winners of the first race were:
- ANR1 – Suevo
- ANR2 – Ojo Piojo
- ANR3 – Pairito
- Platu – Cheers25
- Sportsboat – Lusíadas First

After a convivial lunch at the Douro Marinawith the traditional green Carlsbergthe crews set sail again to compete in the second race. After the traditional start at the mouth of the Douro, the finish took place at the Marina Porto Atlântico Leixõeswhere the winners of each class were announced:
- ANR1 – Suevo
- ANR2 – Ojo Piojo
- ANR3 – Pairito
- Platu – Cheers25

Regata do Infante: an example of inclusion in sport
The Regata do Infante is now recognized as the first and only fully inclusive regatta in Portugal. Since 2021, the event has been open to sailors with disabilities, who compete side by side with the rest of the athletes in adapted boats.
More than just a sporting challenge, this initiative promotes equality, combats prejudice and encourages everyone to take part in sailing.
In 2025, the ForALL team was again present aboard the INCA Lusíadas ForALL catamaran, completing the second leg of the race and reinforcing the message that sailing is truly for everyone.
Commitment to sustainability: beach cleaning at Douro Marina
As well as being competitive and inclusive, the Lusíadas Saúde Porto Sailing 2025 also reinforced its environmental commitment. As part of the event, the BBDouro Nautical Experiences junior sailing academy organized a clean-up of the Douro Marina beach, involving young sailors and the local community in waste collection. This initiative, part of the academy’s educational program, made participants aware of the importance of preserving the marine ecosystem and highlighted the role of sailing as a driver of social and environmental responsibility.
Lusíadas Saúde Porto Sailing 2025: two days of celebration
On September 13 and 14, 2025, Porto will host the new edition of Lusíadas Saúde Porto Sailing, an event that combines sport, health and inclusion.
For two days, the Douro Marina will be the stage for activities that conclude this year’s Todos a Bordo program, aimed at Lusíadas Saúde employees, as well as the 5th edition of Lusíadas ForALL, an action that celebrates inclusion through sailing.
More than a nautical competition, this is a meeting of sharing, socializing and overcoming, consolidating Porto’s position as a national reference in sailing.
