The first day of Lusíadas Saúde Porto Sailing 2024 was a true celebration of passion for the sea and inclusion.
With the sun shining on the waters of the Douro River and the wind driving us, health and sailing were once again smiling and sailing together during Women on Water Portugal 2024 and the 14th Regata do Infante, which kicked off with great energy and enthusiasm.

WOW brought to the event a spirit of healthy competition and the strength of women in the sailing world.
The briefing took place on time and the 12 teams, made up of talented sailors, started the first day of racing.
In the morning the wind blew from the east, allowing six qualifying races to be sailed at 15 knots before the lunch break. Just in time, because at this point the wind decided to take a break too and change direction.
After setting up the new course, this time with a north-westerly wind, the wind blew lightly with a few surprises as the northerly became stronger.
The day ended with 10 races, leaving 4 qualifying races for the second and final day, which will elect the first team to go straight through to the final, and the remaining play-off and semi-final stages.
It was a day full of exciting moments and a few flags in between, with the athletes giving it their all.
XIV INFANTE REGATTA
The 14th Regata do Infante exceeded all expectations this year and welcomed the largest number of boats ever, bringing together 61 boats.
As in previous editions, the first start was at the Marina Porto Atlântico Leixões, with the sailboats lining up for a show in front of Matosinhos beach. As the boats entered the river, the sails brushed the horizon and the energy of the competitors transformed the Douro into an exciting scene.
After a short rest and a well-deserved lunch at the Douro Marina, the crews were back on board, ready for the second race to compete for first place in their class.

Sportsboat – Rum

Throughout the day, inclusion was also a constant.
We will be counting on the participation of the ForALL team and their support on land with the sale of coffees, always bringing that touch of closeness and inclusion that makes this event more than just a nautical competition.
In the afternoon, they boarded our catamaran INCA Lusíadas ForALL for the second stage of the XIV Regata do Infante, showing that sailing is for everyone.
This was just the first chapter of Lusíadas Saúde Porto Sailing 2024, and today has shown that we can expect more unforgettable moments tomorrow.

Lusíadas Saúde Porto Sailing is back in Porto for another unmissable edition! On September 14 and 15, 2024, the waters of the Douro River will be the stage for the biggest sailing event in northern Portugal, celebrating the 14th Regata do Infante and another edition of Women On Water Portugal.
This event is not just a competition: it is a gathering of joy and celebration.
