A floating billboard that started it all

Since 2019, Lusíadas Saúde and BBDouro Nautical Experiences have joined forces to create unique experiences that go far beyond sailing – bringing health, inclusion and memorable moments to employees, athletes and communities.

The starting point was unexpected: a floating billboard.

In 2019, BBDouro’s Beneteau Platu 25 sailed the waters of the Douro dressed in Lusíadas blue. For three years, this boat was the scene of sailing lessons, baptisms and team buildings, impacting thousands of customers and millions of people on the banks of the river. In 2022, the brand gained even more visibility with the transition to a Beneteau First 7.5 and support for the Regata do Infante, the biggest regatta in the north of Portugal.

Lusíadas Saúde Porto Sailing: an event that is already a tradition

The idea of promoting the brand gave birth in 2020 to Lusíadas Saúde Porto Sailing (LSPS), a unique nautical mega-event in Portugal.

The concept brings together sporting events, where Lusíadas blue has become the dominant color in the Douro, sailing trips and awareness-raising activities. Six editions later, LSPS is now a benchmark event for sailors, employees and the community.

All Aboard: taking the brand to the open sea

In 2021, the Todos a Bordo program was born, which took a 16-metre sailboat to sail along the Algarve coast in the Lusíadas colors.

The success was immediate: employees and their families had the opportunity to enjoy unique leisure experiences in the middle of the summer season.

In 2022, the initiative expanded to Lisbon, always with full schedules and record attendance. More than just branding, Todos a Bordo has become a real meeting point for the Lusíadas community.

Inclusion and innovation at the heart of the partnership

Also in 2021, LSPS served as the stage for the inauguration of the Inclusion Catamaran Lusíadas ForALL and opened the door to a new format for the event with the first inclusive regatta in Portugal and the organization of a Talk on Inclusion and Awareness.

INCA Lusíadas ForALL has been sailing under the Lusíadas brand ever since, supporting BBDouro ForALL in all the Solidarity Sailing and Barrier-Free Sailing tours and classes.

BBDouro and Lusíadas Saúde came up with novel ways to hold such a large-scale event safely in the year of Covid-19. They planned an awards ceremony on the sea with teams participating in their own boats and a band providing entertainment aboard a support boat.

Records, expansion and social impact

More than branding, this alliance is an example of how brands can navigate together, aligning values and creating genuine connections with people.

In 2024, the fifth edition of LSPS celebrated 5 years of partnership, bringing together 61 boats, 170 employees and 670 happy participants, a record number of participations.

Edition 2025: competition, celebration and inclusion

The 2025 edition continued the tradition of exceeding expectations.

Saturday was marked by the heated competition of the 15th Regata do Infante, but also by a moment of celebration: the Sunset Party by Lusíadas Saúde, this year held at the Sport Club do Porto in Leixões. An evening of music, dancing, socializing and giveaways that brought together athletes, organizers and partners in a relaxed and vibrant atmosphere.

After a quick dismount and a few hours of rest, Sunday brought a different spirit. The second day of Lusíadas Saúde Porto Sailing 2025 dawned with gray skies, but the sun quickly shone to illuminate a program focused on inclusion.

Solidarity sailing baptisms and outings were held for Lusíadas Saúde employees and their families, in a day that reinforced the values of diversity and accessibility in water sports.

The results couldn’t be more positive: the LSPS 2025 has once again proved that it is much more than a competition. It’s a celebration of sailing, health and community spirit.
