BBDouro has strengthened its nautical positioning in the north of Portugal with the purchase of Douro Yachts and presented its new image for the group’s companies.
In 2012, BBDouro launched itself onto the Portuguese nautical market as a sailing academy, as a result of the ambition of its founder – Diogo Barros – to change the way sailing was presented in Portugal. At the time, the company’s structure consisted of two employees, a container/warehouse/office and a fleet of four boats.

Over the last eleven years, we have earned our place in the sector, expanding our private and corporate services and always acting with ambition and a focus on creating value for all our clients. Today, BBDouro is characterized by being a company that offers a wide range of nautical experiences, from sailing academies and boat trips to corporate events and nautical training.
During our 10th anniversary celebrations, we announced the purchase of Ondastar, a company that sells, maintains and repairs recreational boats, which in recent years had become one of BBDouro’s biggest suppliers and partners. According to Diogo, this was a natural step in the company’s sustainable growth, allowing us to bring “a new and fresh approach to the boating market in the north of Portugal”.
This week, we strengthened our nautical positioning in the north of Portugal with the announcement of the purchase of Douro Yachts, a company with a history in the nautical market, which also specializes in the maintenance and repair of pleasure boats and is the official representative of the Flexiteek brand. A move that, in the words of our founder, “allows us to offer our clients a complete service throughout any type of nautical journey”.
Alongside the announcement of the acquisition, the new image for the group’s three companies – BBDouro, Douro Yachts and Ondastar – was also presented, in line with BBDouro’s promise as a brand.
“We have grown without neglecting what has made us a unique brand: our commitment to quality and our focus on our customers in every type of service we provide.”

Today, the BBDouro group has four companies, 35 employees, a structure based on two offices, two workshops, two warehouses and a fleet of 35 boats (including semi-rigid, Dinghy Sailing and cruising boats).
