If sailing still seems like a sport reserved for Olympians or those who have practiced it for many years, there’s good news: the BBDouro Nautical Experiences Adult Sailing Academy is here to prove otherwise and show that learning to sail is for everyone.
Anyone – from the beginner who is starting from scratch to the aspiring sailor who has already had a first contact with skiffs on a summer afternoon – will find wind, tides and a team of experienced instructors ready to help you learn and evolve at our Academy.
START WITHOUT HASTE
At BBDouro, you don’t need any previous experience to start sailing. The classes are designed for beginners, with clear explanations, a relaxed atmosphere and all the time you need to learn without rushing.
Here, no one expects you to know how to tie knots or do maneuvers on the first day (or the second). The most important thing is to be there, to come with curiosity and a desire to learn.
WEEKENDS IN GROUPS OR EVERY DAY AS YOU WISH
If you like group dynamics, weekend group classes are perfect for sharing the experience with other apprentices, exchanging tips and laughing when the boat tilts more than expected. Each class is different, but a good mood is always guaranteed.
If you prefer a more personalized approach or have a busy schedule, we have private lessons available every day of the week. These are ideal for those looking for more focus, flexibility or individualized attention from the instructor, who adapts every minute of the class to your level, goals and pace.
INSTRUCTORS WHO INSPIRE
Our team is made up of qualified instructors who are passionate about what they do and have a lot of experience on and off the water. They will guide you from the first knots to the most technical maneuvers, always with attention, patience and good humor. Each student feels motivated and ready to face the wind.
A PERFECT SETTING
Few places offer such an emblematic setting for learning to sail as the Douro River.
The lessons take place in a privileged sailing area, protected from strong winds and swell, right in front of the Douro Marina. This safe and controlled environment is ideal for the first steps in sailing. As learning progresses, the sailing area also expands, allowing students to gradually explore the sea, sailing along the coasts of Porto, Matosinhos and Vila Nova de Gaia.
