On November 2, BBDouro ForALL’s “Sailing Without Barriers” project received an honorable mention in 2nd edition of the Sports + Accessibility Award.
Developed by Instituto Nacional para a Reabilitação and the Instituto Português do Desporto e Juventude, IP, this award honors projects that promote the development of sport and physical activity for people with disabilities, with a view to their social inclusion. This year’s winner was another project linked to inclusive sailing: Sailing4all from the Sporting Clube Aveiro Sailing Academy.
Three priority areas have been defined for this year’s edition: inclusion and awareness, training, accessibility and support products. In addition to the winner, an honorable mention was awarded for each of these same areas, with “Vela Sem Barreiras” receiving its own in the area of accessibility and products to support the project.
The BBDouro team was represented by André Sá Coutinho. With a special connection to “Sailing Without Barriers”, he is one of the skippers most cherished by the groups and associations that take part in this weekly project.
